Trail Maps
Need a trail map? We have large scale paper maps, GPS-enabled digital maps, and printable maps of Hamilton, Wenham, Topsfield, Ipswich, and West Newbury.
Large paper versions of our town wide trail maps are available at several local shops in our area. See this list of local retailers who carry ECTA paper maps for sale. You can also purchase a map by contacting our office at 978-468-1133 or office@ectaonline.org.

We’ve made all of ECTA’s current town wide trail maps available digitally through the Avenza Maps mobile app to be used for navigation via GPS on trails in Hamilton, Ipswich, Topsfield, Wenham, and West Newbury. Both the Avenza Maps app and our digital maps are free. Through Avenza Maps, our maps can be used on your mobile device anywhere – without a cellphone signal.
To use our maps for navigating and for recording your track with time and distance on trails, download the free Avenza Maps app from the App Store on your smartphone or mobile device. Open Avenza Maps, choose maps from the store (shopping cart icon), click free, then open map.
For recording your track and data:
- Locate yourself on the map
- Tap on the pencil/ruler icon in lower right corner of map screen
- From pop up menu choose Record GPS Tracks
- Choose Tracking (default)
- Press Start Tracking
- When done, press Stop Tracking
- Your track will appear on the map
- Tap on your track, and a box will pop up with your time and distance
- Click on the box, and an edit track screen will pop up with further data
- Name your track, then for our trail challenge take a screen capture
Tracks are saved as layers in Avenza Maps and their data can be imported or exported.
